Tournament FAQ
When do tournament occur? How do I know when the next tournament is?
Team tournaments are on Tuesdays at 6PM Central. Capture the Flag is hosted on Fridays at 8PM. Solo tournaments are on Saturday at 3PM.
How do I participate in a tournament?
Simply connect to t1.mcpvp.com up to 30 minutes before the tournament starts. You will be invincible and can run around and play on the map until the actual tournament starts. When the tournament starts, your inventory will be cleared and you will be teleported far off in the distance near the center of the arena, so anything you do before the start of the tournament will not give you any advantage or disadvantage.
What happens when the tournament starts?
All players' inventories are cleared, health restored, and they are teleported to a random location within 128 blocks of the center of the arena. All players are then invincible for 2 minutes. When the invincibility period is over, you will take 1/2 heart hunger damage once every 2 minutes.
What does the arena look like?
The arena is simply an unmodified section of the map between x=50000, z=51000. It has an invisible "force field" around it that will throw you backwards if you hit it. The terrain is truely unmodified and each tournament is played on a new map, so the arena can look like anything. A useful stragegy when talking to team mates about coordinates is to drop the first 2 digits of the coordinate. So instead of saying 50560, 50233 just say 560, 233 because everything is assumed to be in the 50000's.
What is the difference between a solo tournament and a team tournament?
A solo tournament is every man for himself - there can be only 1 winner. There are no official teams or alliances, though you can make allies informally. Informal alliances, however, obviously provide no technical advantages.
Team tournaments are heavily influenced by the allowance of teams. Each team can have up to 4 members. Players do not have to be part of a team to participate. Teams share health. Whenever a team member is attacked, the damage is taken from the team member who has the most health. Teams can also not attack eachother. When the game is over, the surviving team members of the winning team split the prize.
How do I join a team?
To join a team, use the following command:
/team join [teamName]
where [teamName] is any random word that you choose to be your team name. You can also leave your current team by saying:
/team leave
You may only join one team at a time. If you try to join a second team, you will automatically leave your first team.
Why can't I dig down any further?
You can only dig up to 10 blocks below sea level. That means that any sand, gravel, dirt or stone blocks with a y of 53 or less cannot be mined. However, this only applies to sand, gravel, dirt, & stone, so if you find a deep cave, you can still mine any exposed diamond, stone, coal, etc you find.
Why does it say that I hit the forcefield?
See "What does the arena look like?"
I keep randomly taking damage, but there is no one around!
That's not a question.
Ok, fine. Why do I randomly keep taking damage, even though there is no one around?
It's called hunger. You take 1/2 heart hunger damage every 2 minutes. It will tell you "You are hungry" every time you take this damage.
Can I change teams in the middle of a tournament?
No. Teams are final once the tournament starts.
What commands can I use during the tournament?
/who - List players/teams still in the game and their health.
/track [player] [distance] [direction] - Used to track players. See: "How do I use /track?"
/team info [playerName] - (Team only) Give you information about the team that the specified player is on.
/team info - (Team only) Gives you info about your team.
/help - Lists out these commands
How do I use /track?
The syntax for /track is:
/track [player] [distance] [direction]
[player] is the name of who you want to track (you have have to type enough of their name so mc knows who you are talking about)
[distance] is the distance you want to look
[direction] is N, S, E, or W
So, /track ditch 100 N will tell you whether or not ditchfieldcaleb is within 100 blocks north of your current location.
Each use of /track will cause 1/2 heart damage to you.
